I think there's an acrobatics-focused one that gives you panache if you tumble through an enemy or something like that. The swashbuckler's deal is panache, a kind of resource that you get by doing things that are exciting or daring or just related to what kind of swashbuckler you are. My group played it and loved it, but you may want to consider going through a few Pathfinder Society Scenarios first, and then deciding if you want to commit to something like plaguestone or one of the Adventure Paths (6 volume adventures that go from level 1 to 20) Plaguestone is nice, but its also quite long (it covers levels 1-4, so it shoud take a couple months to go through). The APG (Advanced Player Guide) is going to be released at the end of the month, bringing even more options. So, I would recommend 1E for people that wanted to play a 3.5 that was kept being worked on.ĢE was released only last year, but they're pumping out a lot of content, the core rulebook is quite massive (600+ pages) and from the start there's more build diversity than D&D5E. Pathfinder 1E is basically D&D 3.8, with more than a decade of support from Paizo, which means there's a ton of content, but it also comes with some problems that 3.5 also had. I'm a major 2E shill, but just to point out the differences between the versions: Am I missing something like an ability to "spend BAB" on something that might similar to a Magus' combat casting boon that could unbalance a game or is this guy just too cocky? But I can't see how even doing certain damage with even a ranged weapon would undercut a game with more than 2 players. I can easily see roadblocks throwing up to have him have to hunt down a teacher for the various classes. What's more classes like Fighter and Barbarian give progressive boons to attack and damage while making a single class character.Ī level 11 Fighter will have +16/11 with a racial weapon.Ī level 10 multiclass will have +21/16 or +23/18 for 8ish rounds a day, and an extra +2 against giants with a racial weapon. He's not going to get bonus attacks, and by level 13 he's out of Full BAB classes to dip so that's just going to be exchanging BAB for a circumstance bonus. He says he wants to multiclass every level and get a +21 bonus.Įven if this was possible for a martial weapon: which I don't think it is, I'm not sure I have a problem with it. This is to make dwarven battleaxemen, elven rrchers and clerics of nethys using staves better at their use than statistically identical members of their same class with alternate races/dieties. *note -1eIt's been a house rule at my table for years that a character that gets proficiency with the same weapon more than once gets an additional +1 circumstance bonus for each extra instance of proficiency. But I don't see any problem with what he wants to do. A friend of one of my players who's joining a game later today threatened to break my game.
